The american restaurant holding giant is currently working on boosting its domestic sales and also its international expansion.

Excitement comes towards the South African crowd as Dunkin’ Brand Group signs a franchise deal with Grand Parade Investments Limited – GPI. The holding company will be opening its first ever Baskin Robin’s and Dunkin Donut in the market of South Africa with the help of the Cape Town Investment firm.

In order to finalize this agreement, the GPI will still require approval from the Financial Surveillance Department of South Africa Reserve Bank – at this point however it’s still uncertain. With keeping its main focus on Johannesburg and Cape Town, in partnership with the Grand Parade Investments over 70 Baskin Robbins and over 250 Dunkin Donut outlets will be opened in the country in the upcoming years.

In a time span of few years, with GPI’s support the restaurant chains organization will also be able to make Baskin Robbins ice creams available in a number of convenience stores and supermarkets in the south market, according to the announcement of by the fast food chain.

In a press release, Bill Mitchell, the President of Dunkin Brand International stated that on its global expansion spree in to different countries it is delighted to be working with the Grand Parade Investment to bring both of its major brands into the country. He added that GPI had experience in the retail and local industry and the company and its management is looking forward to making their brand available for the customers very soon in South African market.

Presently over 11,500 Dunkin Donut outlets are available in over 40 countries while 7,600 Baskin Robins stores are present in over 50 countries. This move by the holding organization comes as it is looking to expand in the international market – also because more international markets are now interested in having Dunkin Donuts.

Apart from Dunkin Brands Group, Dominos, a pizza giant has also recently entered the South African market last year. Additionally, another donut chain, Krispy Kreme has also been launched in the region – mainly in Johannesburg and Rose Bank. The coffee shop giant, Starbucks also recently shared its plans of making an entry in the country in the current year.

On the other hand, 2015 has not been an interesting year for the American restaurant holding corporation as the stock price fell by as much as 15% during the year. 2016 however might seem promising as the company had collaborated with Madison Square Garden in a multi-year marketing agreement. Through this agreement, the brand’s products will be made the official goodies in the place which will ultimately give it more visibility in the market.
