Tesla Recalls Model S Amid Faulty Seatbelts

90,000 Model S cars recalled by the company due to faulty seatbelts

Tesla Motors Inc. the automotive giant is experiencing turmoil where the chief executive officer, Mr. Elon Musk has recalled all the Model S cars since the company has deduced that the luxury sedan has a faulty seatbelt problem in one of the European models launched.  

The company posted an unattributed email on its website and also rolled it out to costumers according to which, “Tesla recently found a Model S in Europe with a front seat belt that was not properly connected to the outboard lap pretension.” They further stated, “This vehicle was not involved in a crash and there were no injuries. However, in the event of a crash, a seat belt in this condition would not provide full protection.”

The electric car giant was experiencing a lot of pressure from the Consumer Reports after they did the assessment of the Model S priced at $69,900. The Consumer Reports claimed that the car had so many problems that it was not worth the recommendation. Whilst conducting its annual reliability survey. The study involved 1400 Model S owners that gave their responses on the car.

According to the analytics group, the core issues that were observed were regarding the drivetrain, charging equipment, power equipment, the gigantic console resembling an iPad along with the squeaky, rattling sounds observed from the sunroof and body of the machine.

As per a European consumer, the issue was that the Tesla car had various problems that required to be addressed. When the company issued the recall, Mr. Diarmund O’Connell, the Vice President of the Business Development unit at TSLA called it “an abundance of caution”.

As per a consensus, there are almost 90,000 Tesla cars that have hit the roads. The company has been retailing these cars in the market since 2012. Thus, the decision to opt for a recall, is actually the largest ever made by the giant. However, this is not the first time the company has required a recall. Also, a recall was also done initially for the Model S. the company had to use a recall for the Model S cars that were manufactured in the time span from May and 8 June 2013. Moreover, they also issued a recall for Model 2 and 2.5 Roadsters back in 2010 when a single incident of a cable short out surfaced.

The Model X SUV and Roadster are so far not affected by the recall. So afr the company has not commented over the matter.
