The American electric car maker is launching a new valet service to facilitate charging at few Superchargers to lure people towards its EVs

Tesla Motors is revealing a new valet service to help charging at a handful of stations of its Supercharger network, the automobile manufacturer’s network of fast-charging facilities. Tesla vehicle owners visiting a Supercharger when every stall is occupied will be provided a valet to park their automobiles until and unless a stall becomes vacant and then the valet can drive the automobile and start charging it.

The facility will probably be particularly useful at the busiest charging facilities of the company in California as well as in other areas where the popularity of the electric vehicles is rising.

The possibility of implementing a similar program first came up in late 2015 when it started to recruit people for a new job known as “Charging Experience Specialist” to “manage onsite customer demand at Tesla Supercharger Stations”.

Up till now, the charging stations were to a huge extent unsupervised and workers were only serving the organization to maintain or repair. According to reports, the automaker is launching out the new facility at a few specific charging stations in California.

The Charging Experience Specialist is required to fulfill more regular responsibilities than that of a valet. Electrek contacted the company to share views on the facility and will update if it gets back to it.

Independently, the company began a charging pilot and on-demand valet parking service in San Francisco and New York by partnering with Luxe previously in 2016.

The facility lets one request an on-demand valet from the application of Luxe. A valet will arrive pick up one’s Tesla and park it at a specified charging facility. One can request extra facilities  like a vehicle wash and he or she can even leave the vehicle throughout the night or opt to have a driver pick him or her up and drive him or her to house in his or her automobile in case if he or she is unable to drive him or herself.

In the version now 7.1 previously 6.2 of its application, the automaker launched a Valet Mode which one can activate when he or she leaves his or her automobile with a valet.

The mode must prove to be useful for the latest charging facilities provided by the Pal Alto based car maker. Finally, the automaker could provide its newly introduced charging facility by combining its robotic “metal snake” autonomous charger  and Autopilot program which it has been developing.

The car maker is incrementally launching more advanced autonomous driving  feature, more lately its Summon feature designed to let Model S  park itself with no one in the car.

The EV manufacturer’s automobiles could autonomously manage charging queues at the charging facilities with a robotic metal snake plugging  the cable in  without seeking any human help. But meanwhile, a valet charging facility needs to do.

The company is addressing the charging facility availability by adding a number of stalls to its existing charging stations.

The Newark Supercharger which is located in Delaware was recently updated, rising to 16 stalls from 4 stalls. In other news, Autoblog has reported that  the Audi electric vehicle official, Stefan Nimand has appreciated the charging infrastructure of Tesla.
