Instead of naming its new iPhone after 5 and 5c range introduced in 2013, Apple would release new smartphone with the name iPhone SE.

Apple is about to launch a new smartphone. Following rumors past weeks, the upcoming iPhone of the company will be named ‘iPhone5 SE’. It is now assumed that the smartphone maker has taken the decision to take out 5 and name it iPhone SE.

New reports claimed that the Cupertino-based organization took the decision against naming the new product as iPhone SE after 5 and 5C range of 2013, as it fears to confuse its customers. Instead, it will focus to call it the special edition or SE.

It is widely assumed to be closely modeled on the compact design of 5S, with a gently curved aluminum body and four-inch display. Nevertheless, it will probably sport new important features such as A9 processors, near-field communication chip (NFC) to facilitate transactions through Apple Pay and a 12MP camera.

It will probably be launched in 64GB and 16GB storage versions. Securities analyst of KGI, Ming-Chi Kuo, spoke to MacRumors that the price of iPhone SE will range from $400 to $500 in the United States, which in the UK equates from £300 to £400. A much affordable iPhone would prove to be an important addition to the arsenal of Apple in its effort to dominate the smartphone market of developing states, such as India and China.

New pictures published on a French website ‘newhereelse.fr’ which is historically known for accurate leaks, demonstrate the new smartphone is free from the parts needed for the pressure sensitive display system present in iPhone 6s and 6s plus, Apple Watch and 3D touch.

Apple is working towards a launch date of March 15 but it is recently reported that the date has been provisionally changed to March 21 a week later. Rumors have been made that SE would be offered for sale only 3 days later on March 18, Friday, which could be now postponed to March 25.

The new iPhone will probably be launched together with a new smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro, instead of a third generation Air series and some new straps of Apple Watch. A redesigned Apple Watch would probably be launched together with iPhone 7 in September.

In other news, Eyewitness News reported that on February 29, 2016, Samsung has won an appeal in a patent battle with the technology giant, as an appeal court in the US reversed $120 million jury verdict against it. This marks an important victory in its long lasting patent dispute with its competitor Apple.
