Tesla Motors would be able to roll out its driverless vehicles within two years, according to CEO Musk.

Tesla Motors would deliver driverless cars in near future. The CEO and founder of the electric vehicle manufacturing organization ‘Elon Musk’ told that within two years, his company’s cars would be equipped with the ability to drive and summon autonomously across the United States for picking up its owners.

Tesla has launched a new version of its Model X and Model S app, which has equipped its premium cars with the capability to park in an area perpendicular to the road. They can currently parallel park and park in a garage, including operating the door of a garage. The app also permits an owner of a vehicle to “summon” the vehicle and get it driven out of the area to pick him/her, if he/she is located within a radius of three miles from the car itself.

CEO Elon Musk addressed the press by stating on January 10, 2016, "I actually think, and I might be slightly optimistic on this, within two years you’ll be able to summon your car from across the country." Tesla warned that the automobile could not spot everything, but the technology must help for tight parking spots, which block drivers from exiting the automobile.

The update has also made security enhancements to the driverless Autopilot feature of the car, which was launched in October last year, leading some people to make videos of near-misses as the system crosses its limits with hair raising consequences.

New speed limits are in place now, which means that cars would only be driving at or a little above speed limit when using the Autopilot on residential streets and automatically cutting down speed when it enters into certain places.

The vehicle would also move slowly for corners and when its indicator is utilized for moving out a highway. Mr. Musk said, “On roads without a center divider, where there’s potential for a more serious collision, it makes sense not to go more than five miles per hour above the speed limit.” According to him, Model S is “probably better than humans at this point in highway driving.”

The application update was launched to the organization’s 60,000 automobiles, including the new Model S and Model X manufactured after September 2014. The CEO further told that he does not know of any incidents, which took place when a Tesla was being driven in Autopilot mode.

According to reports of Autoblog, a test has shown that Autpilot feature equipped with the new update is not restricted to a speed limit on a highway with a center divider.
