IBM has opened its Watson 'Internet of Things' global headquarters in a German city, Munich.

The New York based company, IBM, recently announced the opening of its global head office for Watson Internet of Things (IoT). Artificial intelligence and IoT is equivalent to big power. IBM is trying to show that it is doing its job in the right manner, nevertheless by introducing a series of ecosystem partners, capabilities, and new offerings developed to add to the power of cognitive computation and Internet of Things. These new offerings would be offered through the IBM Watson IoT Cloud.

Munich, Germany would become the city in which the tech company would open a global head office for its newly built Watson IoT division, and would accommodate the first Watson innovation center of Europe. The campus would bring together its 1000 developers, designers, consultants, and researchers to engage with partners and customers and would house a laboratory for programmers, data scientists, and engineers, where they would develop connected solutions at the intersection of IoT and cognitive computation.

The center would be setting out to drive collaborative innovation with customers, partners, data scientists, and IBM researchers to develop new IoT opportunities. It is representing the tech giant’s biggest investment in Europe in more than 20 years.

Big Blue would also be delivering services and Watson Application program interfaces on the Watson IoT cloud platform to speed up the establishment of cognitive IoT solutions and facilities, helping partners and customers to make sense of the increasing variety and volume of information in physical world that is rapidly turning digital.

GM, Watson IoT and Education, at IBM, Harriet Green, said, “The Internet of Things will soon be the largest single source of data on the planet, yet almost 90% of that data is never acted upon. With its unique abilities to sense, reason and learn, Watson opens the door for enterprises, governments and individuals to finally harness this real-time data, compare it with historical data sets and deep reservoirs of accumulated knowledge, and then find unexpected correlations that generate new insights to benefit business and society alike.”

IBM announced that it has established eight more Watson IoT client experience centers across Europe, America, and Asia. Regions include Boeblingen, Germany, Beijing, China, Seoul, Korea, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Tokyo, Japan, Texas, Massachusetts, and North Carolina in the US. These centers provide partners and customers with access to talent, tools, and technology needed to create and develop new devices and facilities using cognitive intelligence through the Watson IoT Cloud Platform.
