International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation and AT&T have decided to play a significant role in conserving water resources.

The two American companies, International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation and AT&T, have decided to play a significant role in conserving water resources. IBM news reported that both companies would jointly work to gather details regarding the factors of the leakages responsible for the wastage of water. Market sources have reported that pipe maker, Mueller Water Products, would also collaborate with the two giants.

IBM news today informed that AT&T’s wireless network would be employed to send the acquired information to the corporation’s software from where it would be provided to water management authorities. The companies would equip the pipes with digital sensors that have been designed to detect any kinds of leaks. If the installed devices were able to identify any leakage, then they would produce a particular sound.

IBM Breaking news affirmed that water managers would be informed about leakages. The new information providing service has been tested in a number of American cities, including Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. An official of the American telecommunications service provider, AT&T, has stated that the tests were carried out to assess the ability of the installed detectors. The recent technology would help the telecommunications giant to extend its network to spaces beyond wired phones.

The water district engineer of Las Vegas Valley, Charles Scott, has stated that the advance feature permits his team to identify pipe leakages and repair them before they turn into larger ones. Experts presented their view that this leakage detection would prove to be useful for the farming community, as farmers use countless miles of pipes to irrigate their land.

It is probable that if the new development succeeds, then it would solve the problems of the drought-struck California. Government sources have highlighted that the Governor of California, Jerry Brown, has recently announced measures to cut the use of water by 25%.

The new water conservation service is not the only project on which both companies are working together, as they are also helping each other in the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) market. It is expected that the new project would not only increase the revenues of the companies but also improve their global reputation in the highly competitive world.

IBM and AT&T are established giants in the business sector, following the philosophy of profit maximization and customer satisfaction. They should now jointly develop strategies and take steps to provide the new service in a very effective manner, or their efforts might not succeed.
